Build your own 4th of July Fantasy Food Lineup

It’s 4th of July weekend! This is a time of food, fireworks, and celebrating freedom. While the weather isn’t looking too great here in New England, we can still always talk about 4th of July food! I was looking at Twitter and stumbled upon this scenario.

Now listen, we’ve had our fair share of food takes here on the blog. We’ve had people debate what French fries should be dipped in other than ketchup. There’s been other scenarios similar to this with food takes. But for the sake of the holiday, let’s humor this tweet and make a 4th of July food lineup!

Main Course: Hot Dog AND Cheeseburger ($5)

Listen, there are no distinct rules with this. So I’m doing it my way! People are always talking about different hot dog and cheeseburger recipes before the 4th of July anyway. Getting hot dogs at $2 and cheeseburger at $3 are absolute steals! It’s amazing they are so lowly priced on this list. I know there’s a lot left, but I like where my food tray is standing right now.

Side Dish #1: Potato Salad ($4)

Potato salad at a 4th of July barbecue is fantastic! Something about it just sounds like an ideal side dish. There are good potato salads and bad ones as well. It’s all about finding the balance of the right ingredients. Give me potato salad right next to my hot dog and burger!

Side Dish #2: Grilled Corn ($2)

Grilled corn done right hits the spot every time. Obviously, you’re not trying to burn the whole ear of corn! But if you grill it right and add a little butter, grilled corn is so good. Plus, it feels like you’re eating something a little bit healthy!

Beverages: Lemonade and Water ($4)

Now I already know what everyone is going to say here. “WeLl Al, WhY DiDn’T yOu TaKe BeEr?!” To be honest, never been a huge alcohol drinker. Plus, what if I’m with my girlfriend and I need to drive us back home? So I’ll take a sweet, refreshing lemonade with my meal. After the lemonade, I can live off of waters for the rest of the time. Especially if it’s a scorching hot day out!

Dessert: Strawberry Shortcake ($4)

Last but not least, give me a piece of strawberry shortcake to round out the day. It has the obvious fruit in it with the strawberries. The frosting and cake in itself is a sweet treat that most people like to eat on the 4th of July. Cookies are a good option here and so are popsicles. But with $5 remaining, I’ll keep the last dollar and have my strawberry shortcake piece with pride.

In Conclusion

4th of July food is fantastic! There’s my list. What’s yours? What are other ways you can have fun with this list? Let me know at my twitter handle or @CouchGuySports. Most importantly, everyone be safe and enjoy a happy 4th of July holiday!
