Bruins vs. Avalanche Rematch

The Boston Bruins look to rebound tonight against the Colorado Avalanche after falling to them Monday afternoon 4-0. The Bruins have been suffering from the injury bug early on this year as both David Backes and Patrice Bergeron haven’t played in their first two games. The B’s are hopeful Bergeron will return this weekend but Backes will be out for an extended period of time giving the Bruins a chance to evaluate some of their younger players in different spots.

The B’s looked like a young team Monday afternoon and the scoreboard showed it. Defensive lapses and missed scoring chances were aplenty in their first loss. Games like this are bound to happen with young guys playing their first NHL games and seeing a large amount of ice time, nobody is perfect in their first few games. Danton Heinen was recalled for the recent road trip and should see playing time over the Bruins road trip.

In addition to some call ups the Bruins have also signed Ryan White to a PTO to add to veteran leadership and add some size to their lineup with Backes and Acciari out. The Bruins have adjusted their lines heading into the game against Colorado new lines are.

Schaller – Kuraly – Heinen

The Bruins youth is going to be the key for them this year and the kids will certainly have their ebbs and flows but players like Debrusk and Bjork accepting big roles and providing production will make or break the Bruins season. Rask will likely be back in net tonight and will surely have a better performance. Krug will play in his second game and is looking to improve his game as he had a rough Monday afternoon.

The rebuilding Avalanche have played well to start the season and the player to watch for them might be Nail Yakupov after he potted two goals against the Bruins on Monday. The Avs are hoping Yakupov can find the form that lead to him being drafted number 1 overall just a few years ago. Despite the trade rumors around Matt Duchene he’s still performing and is tied for the teams’ lead in points. Varlamov will likely get the call in net and will try to shutout the Bruins offense for the second game in a raw.
