Bruins Trade Target: Tyler Toffoli

The Boston Bruins have had a great first half of the season and currently sit second in the NHL in points with a 29-10-12 record. They are only behind the Capitols. Alongsisde that second place standing they have the league’s leading goal scorer in David Pastrnak and a high octane first line. Now they look to add some firepower and stabilize their second line. In order to fix that they’re looking towards LA and acquiring Tyler Toffoli.

The Bruins have been linked to Toffoli in the past and things may finally be coming to fruition. Toffoli is on the last year of his deal in LA and they’re looking to sell off pieces to help build towards their future. Toffoli is a great fit for the second line RW position on the Bruins he’s got 12 goals and 15 assists on the year. He’s also a right shot which gives the Bruins what they need. If they acquire Toffoli that would create scoring depth on their second and third lines.

The cost for Toffoli shouldn’t be ridiculous either and we could see the Bruins pay similar to what they paid last season for Marcus Johansson. That cost them a second and fourth round pick. Sweeney would like to hold onto his first round pick so this type of deal lets him. The Bruins would only have to pay the remainder of Toffoli’s deal so they would be able to stay under the salary cap.

With the Bruins bye week ending this Friday and the trade deadline of February 24th less than a month away we could see this deal get pulled off soon. Toffoli would offer a much needed offensive upgrade to the Bruins second line and the quicker they make this deal the quicker Toffoli can build chemistry with his new team.
