Boston Red Sox: Chris Sale throws an immaculate inning against the Twins

Chris Sale has been a bright spot for the Red Sox since rejoining the team from Tommy John surgery. The lefty is looking for his third win of the season against the Twins on Thursday night.

Sale was dominant against the Twins over the course of the first two innings. The dominant left-hander struck out four while surrendering zero hits heading into the third inning.

Sale would mow down the Twins in order and he would do so by throwing an immaculate inning.

He would get Twins Nick Gordon to strike out swinging to begin the inning. Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons would strike out swinging. Sale would then get Rob Refsnyder to go down swinging for his third strike out of the inning.

The 32-year-old would throw nine pitches, all for strikes for the immaculate inning. This was not the first time that Sale has completed such feat. The last Red Sox pitcher to throw an immaculate inning was Sale who did that against the Orioles and Royals and 2019 and now the Twins on Thursday.

This was the first immaculate inning throw at Fenway Park since Pedro Martinez threw one back in 2002 against the Mariners.
