This week’s episode of the Yellow Card Podcast began with a discussion on the shocking news of Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona. There are certainly many factors at play in this situation, including finances and club politics. However, the crew agreed that it is a shame for an all time great like Messi to be unable to end things on his own terms.
Next up, the crew gave their predictions ahead of the 2021-22 Premier League season. Inspired by Chris’ article from earlier in the week, Diego, Andrew and Chris gave their predictions for where each team will finish in the table this year. We agreed on some clubs and clashed on others, which made this an action-packed segment. Ultimately, the three of us named two different winners for the EPL in 2021-22. Lastly, the boys gave a quick shoutout to the New England Revolution. The Revs will have four representatives in the MLS All-Star game on August 25th. This number has New England tied for second most all-stars in the league. Carles Gil, Gustavo Bou, Tajon Buchanan and Matt Turner all thoroughly deserve this honor. It is great to see them being recognized for their outstanding seasons thus far.
