Yellow Card Podcast Episode 21

Welcome back to another Sunday edition of the Yellow Card Podcast! This week, Chris, Diego and Andrew had plenty of action to jump into from various leagues across Europe.

Topics

To kick off the show, the hosts discussed some key points and matchups for the domestic leagues that are currently entering their home stretch. Starting with the German Bundesliga, the crew agreed that Bayern München is in the drivers’ seat at this point. The defending Champions League winners are currently seven points clear at the top of the table. Diego pointed out that RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are both having great seasons. This is especially relevant ahead of their clash on January 30th.

Moving over to Spain’s La Liga, the hosts were impressed with Atletico Madrid’s incredible defensive record. The boys speculated on what plans Real Madrid and Barcelona have and whether the two giants can turn around their seasons. Chris then provided a rundown of Serie A, which is extremely competitive this season. AC Milan and Inter lead the way, while defending champions Juventus may need a few adjustments to turn things around. Juve are attempting to win their tenth straight Serie A title this season.

Next up, the hosts turned their attention to the English Premier League. With the competition reaching its’ halfway point, the crew handed out a few midseason awards. To start, Diego, Chris and Andrew each picked their best XI for the season so far.

The hosts then turned their attention to some individual awards. The trio each named their player of the season, manager of the season and game of the season so far. Everyone explained their selections, which sparked some entertaining EPL discussion. All three of the hosts agreed that we are in for a phenomenal second half of the season!
