Would You Swap Tom Brady For Jimmy Garoppolo?

I know that all of sports is shut down right now due to Coronavirus. It’s serious, and we should all be taking steady precautions. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about the New England Patriots, right? Right! So with that being said, let’s focus on this scenario. Tom Brady could potentially be out the door (as if 2020 hasn’t been bad enough so far!) after 20 years in New England. But, there is a connection going around about Brady being interested in playing for his favorite team growing up, the San Francisco 49ers.

So this leaves me asking the obvious question: would you let Tom Brady walk if it meant that Jimmy Garoppolo returns to New England? Before I give my answer, here are a few thoughts to ponder.

The 49ers Can Win NOW

We saw how good this 49ers team was during the 2019-2020 season. They are a team with an elite defense and solid weapons at running back and receiver. Plus, having George Kittle doesn’t hurt either. Imagine Brady having guys like Kittle, Breida and Mostert in the backfield, Deebo Samuel downfield? He’d LOVE to have those weapons. The 49ers are one big piece away from a Super Bowl title. Tom Brady could be that final piece.

The Patriots Want A Future

The Patriots have had a great 20 year stretch. But, they want their tradition of winning to continue. How do you continue winning? Bring in a young and hungry quarterback. Jimmy Garoppolo is that young and hungry quarterback you need to continue the legacy. You don’t think he’ll have a chip on his shoulder after the last Super Bowl? Oh buddy, you better believe he’ll be foaming at the mouth for another shot at the big game. Garoppolo can be this team’s quarterback for the next 10-12 years if all went according to plan.

Belichick Loved Garoppolo AND Garoppolo Knows The Patriots System

It was no secret that Bill Belichick loved Jimmy Garoppolo. He knew he had the future in his hands. It KILLED Belichick to have to send Jimmy to the Bay area. But, this could be his one shot to get him back. Plus, Garoppolo played in New England before. It’s not like Belichick would have to start completely from scratch. Sure, there might be different plays to catch up on. But the concepts would be similar to Jimmy G’s short starting career in New England.

In Conclusion/My Answer

ABSOLUTELY! You do this deal in a heart beat. I love Tom Brady and everything he did for New England. But would I rather have 10-12 years with a chance at the Super Bowl? Or only have two more shots and have to actually start all over? People, what are we even debating here? Give me Jimmy GQ back in a Pats uniform right now if you can pull it off. Nothing personal Tom. But, we want to win. Plus, its a win for everyone. Brady plays for his childhood team. Garoppolo finally gets the full time starting spot in New England. Brady and Belichick can try to prove they can without the other one around. Everybody’s happy…I think?
