Why the Red Sox can make another deep playoff run in 2022

I know that there isn’t any baseball right now. I’m also aware that the MLB is still in a lockdown and we may have to wait past Spring Training to get any baseball at all. But I can’t lie to all of you CGS readers and fans. The Red Sox 2021 season and postseason run has me fired up for 2022! As I’m sitting and watching playoff football as I write this, I’m thinking of the reasons why the Red Sox can make ANOTHER deep playoff run in the 2022 season. Want to see if we agree on those reasons? Let’s get into it!

A Red Sox Deep Playoff Run in 2022 comes with a Healthy Chris Sale

Having Chris Sale for the full 2022 season should be very significant for this Red Sox team. They had Nathan Eovaldi last year who took over as the ace. But we all know that Sale is really the guy when it is all said and done. I truly believe Chris Sale has some gas left in the tank. With the way he threw in the ALCS against the Astros (with the exception of Yordan Àlvarez), there should be a lot of optimism for Sale in 2022.

A Still Potent Offense

The Red Sox still have one of the best offenses in baseball. JD Martinez, Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, Alex Verdugo, Kyle Schwarber if he resigns, the list goes on and on. One of the beautiful parts of the Red Sox is that they can have guys step up at any time. Christian Vázquez had his moments where he had some big hits last season. Take the ALDS game three walk-off homerun against the Rays as the perfect example. The point is that this offense will continue to be really good in 2022.

A Good Group of Young Talent

The Red Sox have some young players that could see a lot of time in 2022. Triston Casas is the name that constantly gets talked about by Red Sox fans. He has great power and the tools necessary to be the first baseman of the future for this Red Sox game. Jarren Duran is another name we all saw for a bit last season. Though he struggled at the plate at times, he’s still a prospect that has a bright future in the Red Sox outfield. Other names include Jay Groome, Marcelo Mayer and Nick Yorke; just to name a few. The point is that these prospects are the future for a Red Sox team that is exciting again in the city of Boston.

In Conclusion

The Red Sox have the pieces in place to make another deep postseason run in 2022. The pitching should look a lot better with Chris Sale for a full year. There’s the offense that will continue to put up a ton of runs. There’s a few questions, like the bullpen and who the starters will be after Sale, Eovaldi, and Nick Pivetta. But all in all, I’m excited to see what this 2022 Red Sox team shows us! (Assuming we have a season of course!)
