What to Look for in the Celtics-Raptors Series

Well Celtics fans, it’s pretty much exactly how we thought it’d play out. You took care of the Philadelphia 76ers in the quarterfinals. Now, you have to get through your first REAL test…the Toronto Raptors.

For anyone looking for the dates of the games, don’t sweat it. I got you covered right here.

Obviously, the Celtics will be in for a dog fight against the Raptors. With that in mind, there’s still a few things to keep an eye on in this series.

Kyle Lowry’s Health

Kyle Lowry went down in the Raptors clinching game against the Nets. He didn’t return either. We don’t know how serious Lowry’s injury is, but it could be a determining factor. Pascal Siakam is going to get his every night and Fred Van Fleet is emerging as well. But Lowry adds another scorer and leader from last year’s championship team. If Lowry is out for quite some time, that can be an advantage to the Celtics, who already are dealing with Gordon Hayward out for a few more weeks too. If Lowry goes down for more than a game, that can significantly hurt the Raptors.

Pascal Siakam vs. Jayson Tatum

This is the matchup everyone is looking forward to seeing this round. Siakam vs. Tatum. Which star will lead their team to a date with the Eastern Conference Finals? Both are emerging into superstars in their own right. Both guys also have to play phenomenally well for their respective team to move on. Defensively, it’s tough to pick a clear favorite. All in all, this is going to be a fun matchup to watch for an entire series.

Nick Nurse vs. Brad Stevens

This is a tale of two polar opposites. For the most part, Brad Stevens is cool, calm, and collected. Nick Nurse on the other hand is one of the most animated coaches in the NBA. These are two solid head coaches with very balanced teams. It might come down to just one decision to win this series. It’s going to be great to see two of the better head coaches in the NBA, going head to head.

In Conclusion

What a series we have for round two. Celtics-Raptors doesn’t get any better. The Celtics have to play exceptionally well to get to the Eastern Conference Finals. Toronto is a huge step up from Philadelphia. But regardless, expect at least a six games series in this one. Get me to Thursday night!
