Week 5 NFL Power Rankings: Cardinals Fly to No. 1 in Rankings

We are through 4 weeks of NFL Power Rankings and boy has it been wild.

Before we dive into Week 5 of the NFL Power Rankings here are last weeks

With that now out of the way, let’s see this week’s NFL Power Rankings!!

32. Jacksonville Jaguars- 0-4 (Last Week- 31)

This team is in absolute shambles at the moment, not only are they on a 19 game losing streak dating back to Week 2 of last season, but their new head coach Urban Meyer is making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Trevor Lawrence looked much more comfortable last week though, this team still has a long way to go.

31. Houston Texans 1-3 (Last Week- 29)

Nothing… I have Nothing for this… a 40-0 blowout, Davis Mills had a brutal game, now they have to face the New England Patriots.

30. Detroit Lions 0-4 (Last Week- 28)

It has not been pretty for the Lions, losing players left and right to injuries. Now they have the dreaded inter-reception that somehow happened against the Chicago Bears.

Head Coach Dan Campbell now needs to make sure his team does not lose focus, as they keep trying to fight for that elusive first win.

29. New York Jets-1-3 (Last Week- 32)

It is a freakin miracle! The New York Jets have finally won a game. Lots of positives to take out of this win too, Zach Wilson had some zip to his throws, it is the right direction for the young team who took down a beat-up Tennessee Titans team.

28. New York Giants 1-3 (Last Week- 30)

Two miracles for the Meadowlands as the New York Giants also took home their first win against the Saints on Sunday. The team has shown sparks of a possible streak led by Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, if they can stay hot, the Giants can start rolling in what is somewhat a struggling NFC East.

27. Miami Dolphins 1-3 (Last Week – 25)

Miami cannot get out of its own way right now. What was supposed to be a positive year for the team has turned into a complete crapshoot of a season. Things looked good after their week one win against New England, but they have only fallen flat on their face since then.

To make matters worse, old friend Tom Brady is bringing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back home to host the Miami Dolphins… YIKES…

26. Atlanta Falcons 1-3 (Last Week- 27)

Something about Atlanta and blown leads. I could make a 28-3 joke here, but it will be nice. Anywho, the Falcons defense surrendered 2 unanswered touchdowns to the Football Team to lose 34-30. Up until that point, they looked good, but it hit the fan fast.

Up Next: They will look to get back on track over in Europe when they head to London to play the New York Jets.

25. Philadelphia Eagles 1-3 (Last Week- 24)

Philly racked up their third straight loss in Week 4, this time to the Kansas City Chiefs, lots of stupid errors plagued the Eagles this week. All of which would have been touchdowns, which would later end up being Field Goals.

On the bright side, the offense racked up over 400 yards against a VERY VERY bad Chiefs Defense.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers 1-3 (Last Week – 22)

I mean, not much to say here. The Steeler’s offense is just brutal to watch, Big Ben is just a shell of himself, and the Steelers are in an absolute free fall.

23. Chicago Bears 2-2 (Last Week- 23)

The Bear’s offense looked pretty good Sunday, thanks to Matt Nagy handing over the controls. Now the downside, they lost David Montgomery for at least 5 weeks to a knee injury. The hits keep coming for the Bears.

Once again, Nagy reiterated, Andy Dalton is the starter when he is healthy… GOOD GRIEF…

22. Indianapolis Colts 1-3 (Last Week- 26)

Hey, Indy is in the win column for the first time this season! A good start. They were able to handle a confusing Dolphins team quite easily. As the Titans keep falling, Indy could see a chance to take the top division spot, but, they have to get through Baltimore on Monday Night Football in Week 5 first.

21. New England Patriots 1-3 (Last Week- 18)

New England came in with a game plan against old friend Tom Brady, and almost was able to knock him and the defending champs off, but a missed 56-yard field goal proved to be the nail in the coffin for a possible comeback on Sunday Night Football.

Moving them down in the NFL Power Rankings this week wasn’t exactly my plan this week, but with other teams moving, it had to be done.

As I stated in my Patriots Week 4 Recap, there were a lot of positives to take out of the loss. They will now get an easier matchup in week 5 against a struggling Texans team.

20. Minnesota Vikings 1-3 (Last Week- 20)

Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota offense found a buzz saw in the Brown’s defense. After a hot start for the offense, they found someone who can stop them in Cleveland, it was what knocked Cousins out of his groove. A team who is now 1-3 in a division with Green Bay could be a tough hole to climb out of

19. Tennessee Titans 2-2 (Last Week – 16)

OUCH. What a brutal loss for Tennessee, losing to the Jets. I will say it won’t bump them down much in the NFL Power Rankings this week only because of the plethora of injuries from both top receivers to some big defensive starters.

They relied heavily on star RB, Derrick Henry once again but it was not enough, they will look to bounce back Sunday against a struggling Jacksonville team.

18. New Orleans Saints 2-2 (Last Week- 13)

NOLA is in full free-fall mode right now after handing the G-Men their first win of 2021 in Week 4. This team has no identity right now. Other than defense this offense is lost as hell. At the end of the day, all systems fail once again as the defense let up the go-ahead touchdown to Daniel Jones this week.

17. Washington Football Team 2-2 (Last Week – 19)

Washington showed their ability to come back against a struggling Falcons defense on Sunday afternoon. Taylor Heinicke is building confidence by the week and proving he is the guy for this no-named team. So far the team is staying afloat in a struggling NFC East.

16. Denver Broncos 3-1 (Last Week – 15)

Denver took one on the chin this week for their first loss. After playing 3 subpar teams to start the season the Broncos could not find an answer for the shifty QB in Lamar Jackson.

To make matters worse, they lost QB, Teddy Bridgewater to concussion protocol, so with that said you could see a familiar face in Drew Lock going Sunday against a flailing Steelers team.

15. Cincinnati Bengals 3-1 (Last Week – 21)

Man, the Bengals look good right now. Joe Burrow looks REALLY good right now, while Ja’Marr Chase looks REALLY REALLY good!! All in all, as they share part of first place in the AFC North the team is trending upwards in a division that will come down to the finish line at the end of the season, and the Bengals could be right in the thick of the race for first place.

14. San Francisco 49ers 2-2 (Last Week – 11)

Jimmy G has gone down to an injury once again, this time a calf injury, but Shanahan seems confident he can play Sunday, but we shall see. If not, they will turn to the rookie, Trey Lance who came in last week and proceeded to throw a 79-yard touchdown to Deebo Samuel.

If it is in fact the rookie going, he will have a tough test against a red-hot Arizona Cardinals team. Either way, the 49ers are trending in the wrong direction with a tough schedule ahead with possibly a rookie QB at the helm.

13. Seattle Seahawks 2-2 (Last Week – 17)

Goin in the Seahawks was on the verge of losing three in a row, well, they were not having any of that as they move back to 500 on the season. They looked determined and ready to take down their division foe in the 49ers.

The defense seems to finally be taking shape and the offense stays explosive as they head into a HUGE Week 5 Showdown with the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football.

12. Carolina Panthers 3-1 (Last Week – 12)

Carolina found a brick wall against a formidable Cowboys defense. It was their first loss of the season which came in a horrific 3rd Quarter. Although Darnold was able to put them back in, it was too little too late for the Panthers. Nothing to fret about though, this team should be just fine.

11. Dallas Cowboys 3-1 (Last Week – 14)

Trevon Diggs has been EXPLOSIVE to start the season, having at least one interception in each of the first four weeks of the season.

Offensively this team looks deadly, with Elliott forming back into his old self, while Prescott looks like he hasn’t missed a beat. This team is quickly climbing up the NFL Power Rankings and quickly catching the eyes of the NFL. They will look to keep it rolling on Sunday against the New York Giants.

10. Las Vegas Raiders 3-1 (Last Week – 6)

The Raiders got off to a slow start on Monday night and it killed them as the defense let up 3 first-half touchdowns to Justin Herbert and the offense. It bumped the Raiders down some this week, but they should be fine and right in the thick of the AL West race.

9. Green Bay Packers 3-1 (Last Week – 9)

Ho Hum… Aaron Rodgers and the Packers keep on rolling and proving the doubters wrong as they easily handled the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.

Rodgers now seems to be enjoying himself as he keeps shredding defenses.

8. Baltimore Ravens 3-1 (Last Week -8)

Baltimore took home an impressive win on Sunday afternoon at Mile High Stadium over the Denver Broncos. The defense was back to being dominant, and well, Lamar Jackson tore through defenses with his legs once again.

7. Cleveland Browns 3-1 (Last Week – 7)

Another week, another dominant performance by the Cleveland Browns, this time going into Minnesota and shutting down Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense. It was a classic 14-7 final score, and even though Baker Mayfield struggled mightily, the defense was able to pick him up for the win.

The Browns defense is another tough matchup coming in Week 5 as they take on the Los Angeles Chargers. We will see if Mayfield will be able to bounce back from a rough passing game against Minnesota.

 6. Los Angeles Chargers 3-1 (Last Week – 10)

Los Angeles Chargers offense looks lethal right now, QB, Justin Herbert looks really good in his sophomore season and is only expected to get better. If you were not sure about the marriage of Herbert and Staley, this game should squash any questions. As a whole, if the offense can keep it up with the defense, then oh boy, we should be in for a doozy of an AL West finish.

5. Kansas City Chiefs 2-2 (Last Week – 5)

Kansas City finally got back in the win column in a shootout win over the Eagles. That was the only positive for the week, the offense once again showed up and Tyreek Hill was a monster. Defensively though this team still has major issues that will be interesting to see how they fix.

I say all that because the Buffalo Bills come into town on Sunday Night for what should be a doozy of a game.

4. Los Angeles Rams 3-1 (Last Week – 1)

We all knew the NFC West was gonna be a powerhouse this year and Sunday served us just why, as the Rams fell to the red-hot Arizona Cardinals in a divisional showdown. This is the first week we saw McVay and his team really struggle especially in the red zone where they saw a fumble from Sony Michel.

They need to bring their A-game this week though on a short week as they play in Seattle for Thursday Night Football

3. Buffalo Bills 3-1 (Last Week – 3)

If there is one defense in the NFL that I am terrified of right now it is the Buffalo Bills, they are absolutely cruising on defense currently after forcing four turnovers against a meddling Texans offense.

Offensively they were able to capitalize off those turnovers as they dropped 40 on Houston while the defense pitched a shutout.

The real test for the defense comes Sunday night when they face a familiar foe in the Kansas City Chiefs.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-1 (Last Week – 2)

Tampa struggled in New England on Sunday but was able to pull out a narrow 19-17 win. A win that saw Tom Brady not throw a touchdown. This win was something else for Tom Brady and Tampa Bay, it shows they can hang around in low-scoring games, although if it wasn’t for a missed 56 yarder for the Patriots this would be a much different story.

1. Arizona Cardinals 4-0 (Last Week – 4)

Finally, the lone undefeated team in the NFL is the Arizona Cardinals. They got a massive statement win over the Los Angeles Rams Sunday afternoon, further cementing just how good this team is this year.

Everything was clicking for this young Cardinals team, the defense is still rolling while the Offense led by Kyler Murray just looks plainly unstoppable right now.
