Watch: Michael Jordan Catches Massive Marlin in Fishing Tournament

Michael Jordan is widely considered the greatest basketball player of all-time. Sorry LeBron fans, that’s just how it is. Still, no one considers Jordan an all-time fishermen, but he and the crew of his boat, Catch 23, were able to reel in an enormous marlin during The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

This bad boy that Jordan and company took to shore weighed in at 442.3 pounds. I am no marlin expert, so all I can really say is holy bologna.

According to my excellent research skills (A.K.A Googling), I was able to find out that the average weight of a marlin is between 200 and 400 pounds. That means Jordan stumbled upon a pretty big boy right here. But with all that being said, this catch failed to land Jordan in the top three of the fishing tournament.

The current leading marlin weighs a whopping 492.4 pounds. Jordan may have a hard time catching up to that mark, but the world is well aware of how competitive of person he is.

So although this isn’t the NBA Finals, there is zero doubt Jordan wants to win this thing. The $3 million first place prize is nothing to scoff at, but can’t be the reason Jordan wants to win. He has enough money, but- like he said himself- he has a competition problem. Whether it be basketball, gambling, or fishing, he wants to beat you no matter what.
