Update on the Red Sox Managing Job
As noted on @MLBNetwork now Red Sox began paring their final 5 of Fuld, Cora, Rowson, Kelly and Mendoza so a decision should come soon. Belief is it’ll likely come down to Fuld and Cora with Fuld having a very real chance. It’s GM Chaim Bloom’s call and he has strong tie to Fuld.

It looks like the Boston Red Sox are closing in on hiring a new manager. According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, the Red Sox managerial search is down to two people, former manager Alex Cora and former player Sam Fuld. If you ask any Boston fan, they would say Cora and for good reason. In 2018, Cora led the Sox to a World Series title and then was let go by the team because of the sign stealing scandal with the Houston Astros.
When it comes Fuld, he played in Tampa Bay when current chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom was with the Rays. Fuld has no previous managerial experience, so keep that in mind.
If you ask me, I think Cora gets hired and it makes sense. Not only does he have experience, but he is beloved in the city of Boston and it seems like he was well liked by the players. No one knows for sure but there is speculation that the Red Sox will name their next manager as early as today.
