Tiger Woods Best Masters Moments

It’s officially Masters week. However, there is someone missing this week. Tiger Woods will not be at the Masters as he continues to recover from injuries sustained from his car accident. I hope his recovery continues smoothly. His presence will be missed this week, but the tournament must go on. However, it will not be the same without him there. Tiger has had many iconic moments from the Masters so let’s take a look back at some of his best moments from the Masters.

2019 Masters

Remembering the final round of the 2019 Masters

Jim Nantz said it perfectly, “The return to glory.” This was Tiger’s fifth win at the Masters and this might be his most memorable. Before this, he hadn’t won the Masters since 2005. The long wait was officially over. Tiger dominated his way to the top of the leaderboard, ending the tournament with a -13. The runner up’s of the 2019 Masters (Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele) were only one stroke behind. Many say that Woods’ hug with his son might be one of the best golf moments to ever happen.

2002 Masters

This isn’t as exciting as the 2019 Masters but it still stands out as one of Woods’ best moments. The early 2000’s was when Tiger Woods was at his best. Nobody could keep up with him. He was the most dominant golfer then. Entering the 2002 Masters, Tiger was the defending champion and he was the favorite. Tiger straight up domianted his way to another Masters win. After 54 holes Tiger was tied for the lead. That tie would quickly disappear. Tiger would finish with a -12 and have a three stroke lead over Retief Goosen to become a back to back Masters champion. Here is the entire final round of the 2002 Masters.

2001 Masters

The 2001 Masters was one of the best tournaments for one reason only. Tiger vs Phil Mickelson. This was when the Woods and Mickelson rivalry was just getting started. Woods and Mickelson were arguably the two hottest golfers on the tour and these two put on a show. Phil had a strong opening round whereas Tiger did not. The second round however Tiger shot up the leaderboard to end the day tied for second place with Phil at -8. From there, these two went at it. Tiger dominated his way to having sole poession of first place entering the final round at -12, Phil was -11. In the end, after these two were exchaning blows to one another, Tiger comes out on top at -16. Phil Mickelson finished third at -13. David Duval was the runner up at -14.

1997 Masters

Tiger took the golf world by storm. The 1997 Masters was his best performance at the tournament. This was also his first time winning the green jacket. Tiger put everyone on notice with a final score of -18 and winning by twelve strokes. Yes, twelve. This was just the beginning of Tiger’s career and look what it turned into.

Final thoughts

Yes Tiger won another Masters. Yes it was intense since it was won in a playoff. But, these moments all right here are the ones that stick out the most. Get well soon Tiger, and enjoy the 2021 Masters everyone!
