Thoughts on Tuukka Rask’s Retirement
Bruins fans have been waiting a very long time for this. Now the day has come. Tuukka Rask officially announced his retirement on Wednesday with a long statement posted on the Bruins twitter page for all to see and process.

This ends a marvelous career for the goaltender in Boston. Before we officially say goodbye to Tuukka Rask for good, here are some thoughts on his retirement from a casual fan.

The stats don’t lie with this. He has the most wins in Bruins history with 308. Not to mention he has played in the most games in Bruins history. If you can’t look at these stats and realize that Tuukka is the best goalie the Bruins have had, I don’t know what to tell you at this point.
Tuukka Rask and His Retirement Means He Doesn’t Have a Stanley Cup
This is the worst part of everything with Rask calling it quits. The Bruins SHOULD have won the Stanley Cup in 2019 against the Blues. The Bruins also COULD have won it all in 2013 against the Blackhawks. Especially with that 2019 Cup run, if Brad Marchand doesn’t have a bad turnover late in the first period to help make it 2-0 Blues after one; then it could’ve maybe been a different outcome. Regardless, Tuukka will be known as one of the greatest goalies to never win the Cup.
In Conclusion: It was time
It was time for Tuukka. He wasn’t recovering like he thought he would for this season. Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swagman are the short and long term future for the Bruins in net. Thanks for the memories, Tuukka. Sorry the Bruins couldn’t get you the Cup you deserved. But make no mistake about it. Tuukka Rask IS the best goaltender in Boston Bruins history.
