The Top Five San Jose Sharks Players Of All-Time
To start this off I would like to congratulate Matty B’s fantasy hockey team. A win is a win and your team came to play. The fantasy gods weren’t on my side and we saw it as my team completely did not show up and it showed as I am writing part one of my loss. Now with that being said I am suppose to say nice things about the San Jose Sharks. So I thought that it was a good idea to give the list of the best five players to wear a San Jose Sharks uniform of all time.
5.) Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Marc-Edouard Vlasic is one of the Sharks most valued defenseman of all-time. He was selected 35th overall by the Sharks in the 2005 NHL Draft, and has been with the team ever since. He is eight all time in franchise history in points and is 6th all time in assists. Vlasic has been a vital part of this Sharks franchise and has been a part of every playoff run that the Sharks have had since the 2006-2007 season. Which has been all but two seasons. Vlasic’s numbers might not be the best, but he has been one of the best for the Sharks franchise.
4.) Joe Pavelski
Joe Pavelski was drafted 205th overall in the 2003 NHL Draft by the Sharks. Pavelski spent his first 13 seasons of his career with the Sharks. He left the Sharks being ranked 4th all time in games played, 2nd in goals, 3rd in assists, 3rd in points all time in the history of the franchise. Pavelski is a top five in all major skating categories for the most part in San Jose’s franchise history. Joe Pavelski is one of the greats to ever wear a Sharks jersey and will be in their team’s hall of fame at some point.
3.) Evgeni Nabokov
The Sharks drafted the goaltender with the 219th overall pick in the 1994 NHL Draft. Nabokov is the best goaltender to ever wear the San Jose Sharks logo on his chest. Nabokov is the leader in just about every goalie franchise record. He spent 10 seasons as the Sharks net minder and was one of the best goaltenders of the 2000s. Martin Jones might hold the goaltending records for the Sharks history one day. His career though has nothing on Nabokov’s.
2.) Joe Thornton
Joe Thornton is the only one on this list to not be drafted by the San Jose Sharks. Since the first time that Thornton stepped on the ice for the Sharks, he made an impact. He is top five in just about all skating categories including games played, goals, assists, points etc. Thornton has spent fifteen seasons with the San Jose Sharks and was a great piece of their franchise.
He was probably apart of the best trade in franchise history as well. Him coming to the Sharks from the Bruins is hands down the best trade the San Jose Sharks have ever made. Jumbo Joe is a hall of famer when his playing career is over.
1.) Patrick Marleau
Mr. San Jose Shark himself is hands down the best player in franchise history. He was an impact player since day one. He is in the top three in the majority of the skating franchise leaders. Marleau played 1,580 games with the Sharks and he was the face of the franchise. He did such an amazing job with the Sharks. He was the heart and soul of the team throughout his career with the Sharks. We will see Marleau’s number retired by the franchise some day. It should be after everything he did for the Sharks.
Do you agree with my list?
