The Thunder Dumped Carmelo Anthony

Moments ago, the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Carmelo Anthony to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are expected to waive Carmelo’s contract which would make him a free agent. In return, the Thunder will get guard Dennis Schroder and forward Mike Muscala. Carmelo has $28 million dollars remaining on his contract.

I don’t know if Carmelo has ever been broken up with before, but the Thunder just dumped him. They basically just paid him 28 million to go away and become a free agent. In a way, this is a win-win for Carmelo and the Thunder. The Thunder get Dennis Schroder who will be a huge lift off of the bench. Carmelo will soon be able to sign with any team he pleases.

Per league sources, Carmelo will likely sign with the Heat or Rockets. If Carmelo wants any chance of winning a championship during his career the smart move would be the Rockets. He can still add value to the Rockets just by becoming a role player off the bench.
