The Red Sox Take One Step Forward…And Two More BACK Last Night

The Boston Red Sox were looking to build off of their three game sweep of the Oakland Athletics. Things FINALLY seemed to look like they were coming back into form. They even led the White Sox 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th inning last night. Then, this happened.

Holy crap, what a punch to the stomach that was for us Red Sox fans!

Rafael Devers Made Another Error In The 9th

Devers booted a routine ground ball with 1 out in the 9th inning. He know has the second most errors in the MLB and doesn’t look like he’s making any adjustments. You have to make the routine plays and everybody knows that. But, Devers is still booting balls left and right that he should be making. If you want to hear my take on him, listen to the latest Into The Triangle episode.

Main Parts of The Red Sox Core Continue To Produce

We can’t be entirely negative in this piece! There were a few bright spots to the night. David Price continues to be the most consistent pitcher on the Red Sox.

Andrew Benintendi continued to show his flashes of power at the plate.

That’s about it for the positive talk in this article though.

In Conclusion

Some good moments, but WOW did they blow a prime opportunity last night! This is the Chicago White Sox we’re talking about here. They are still a few years away from being competitive for the A.L. Central division. Take care of business, will you? Now, if they win the next 3 games and take 3 of 4; then you’ll be fine. That will be winning 11 of the last 16. But man, would last night have been better with a win. Damn you, Ryan Brasier!
