The Rafters Pod Ep. 94: PLAYOFFS?!?!?!
Playoff time baby! At the time of recording, the Cleveland Cavaliers face the Brooklyn Nets to decide who faces the green juggernaut. Justin and Liam sit down at the virtual table to spew their playoff predictions. Who is the favorable match up to play the Celtics? How confident is Celtics Nation?
On one end, we have the upstart Cavs. A team mostly fueled by young guns that shocked the NBA world holding the fourth seed in the East for a large part of the season. Liam brings his concerns to the table when it comes to facing this team. Cleveland runs their offense through their big men. Potential Rookie of the Year Center Evan Mobley has been phenomenal. Pairing him with traditional big Jarrett Allen and former star Kevin Love has proven deadly for opposing teams. A familiar face has graced the enemy Cavs in the form of Rajon Rondo. Both hosts don’t want to see “Playoff Rondo” dropping dimes over his former team. In all likeliness though, Boston will be facing the betting favorite Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets have been the favorite to win it all the last two years. Being in the play-in this year, clearly they’ve underachieved. With a 44-38 record, Brooklyn has suffered through every obstacle a team can imagine from internal disputes to injury woes. Doesn’t matter how they got here though. This team still has the best player in the world in Kevin Durant and mortal Celtics enemy, Kyrie Irving who are both more than capable of scoring 50 any night. This is one of the deadliest lower tier seeds we’ve ever seen and no team is safe from an upset to them. With Ben Simmons slated to return around game 4, will this team take off or falter?
Celtics Nation fears none.
