The Pre NBA Draft May Be The Best Time of Year In Sports… & I’m A Baseball Guy

Listen I’ll be honest here. Up until a couple of years ago I wasn’t the biggest NBA fan. I used to crap on it left and right. I hate flopping. I hate how easily you can pick up a foul. I was a whiny little bitch about it.

But then one day I decided I wanted to get into the Celtics and the NBA as a whole. It was really the only sport I wasn’t into out of the four major sports (eat it soccer). So I jumped on board and watched the Celtics play .500 basketball for a season. It wasn’t the best toe dip into the water for my first attempt at getting into the Cs, but it got the job done. I was hooked.

And now that I’m a few years in to my NBA fandom, I’ve come to the conclusion that the days leading up to the NBA draft, and perhaps the NBA trade deadline may be some of the greatest days in sports.

The reason being is the rumors that FLY off of the shelves like the red, white and blue Oreos around the 4th of July. It’s unbelievable. You log on to Twitter and you scroll and scroll and all you see is that one faithful word… “sources”.

Everybody’s got a source. But the problem is, and this may be why it’s so compelling, each source seems like they freaking say something different. But they’re sources so you gotta believe it. That’s science.

You have one guy out of Chicago saying that Jimmy Butler is GOING to be dealt… it’s just a matter of whether it’s to Cleveland or Boston. And then you have another guy who says that Butler isn’t going anywhere. Straighten it out guys my GOD.

And the thing about the NBA is that one guy can change the entire dynamic of a team and that’s another reason as to why I think the NBA is so different compared to the other sports. If you bring on someone like, let’s float one of the rumors out there, Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics, they’re suddenly a championship contender (but that’s assuming Gordon Hayward will sign with the Cs).

But to go back to the rumors, they make this time of year. Without rumors it would just be me and my idiot buddies speculating who’s going to go where. And when my sources are half drunk, Iiiiiii don’t think I can really believe them.

The only man that I fully place my NBA hopes in the hands of is the obvious, Adrian Wojnarowski. One of my friends literally set his notifications on his phone so that every time Woj tweets he gets it right to his lock screen.

I’ll be honest, I have been so jacked up about the Porzingis rumor today, especially after Phil Jackson talked about moving him again last night, I haven’t wanted to do a damn thing but constantly be checking my Twitter timeline.

The NBA draft is kicking off in just a few minutes. Come on Danny show us why you got that nickname and come in hot with this long over due fireworks you promised.
