PATRIOTS

The Neverending Story of Benjamin Watson Continues

Everybody loves a good story, right? Here’s one for you. Benjamin Watson starts out with the Patriots at 7:00 AM and then gets suspended at 11:00 AM. He’s back at 3:00 PM, gets released at 7:00 PM. The next question is, where’s Benjamin Watson at 11:00 PM? You guessed it! He’s back with the Patriots. The Patriots re-signed Benjamin Watson a week after his surprise release.

This move comes after injuries to tight end Matt LaCosse and receiver Josh Gordon. The Patriots are extremely thin for offensive weapons, so bringing back Watson felt like the right move.

So What Does This Mean For Other Potential Moves?

This probably means that the Patriots won’t be focusing on bringing in another big impact tight end. They did bring in another tight end, but it wasn’t the Tyler Eifert some Patriots fans might have been hoping for all week.

His name is Eric Tomlinson. He has spent time with the Giants and the Jets. That’s about all I know on this guy. The point is that the Patriots most likely won’t be making a move for a tight end. Wide receiver could be a different story. Keep an eye out for names like Emmanuel Sanders or Mohammed Sanu to start surfacing. Nothing would surprise me with Bill at this point.

In Conclusion

It’s another move in the neverending saga that is Benjamin Watson. Hopefully, Watson is here for the rest of the season to help a depleted tight end position. The Patriots are still in good shape with their strong defense and Tom Brady under center. Watson certainly doesn’t hurt to have for Brady to throw to for the rest of the season. What could the next possible move be for Watson? We’ll have to wait to find out. For now, we’re glad to have Watson back in the fold with the Jets coming up for a Monday night football matchup.
