The NBA’s HORSE Competition Was No Good

When the NBA announced that it would be holding its very own “HORSE” competition, not many were excited. I for one, thought it had potential. Then the NBA announced its participants and the fact that there would be no dunking allowed. That combination added up to a horrible event.

Nothing against the competitors, but I really didn’t expect ol’ Paul Pierce to pull something out of his bag to shock us all: same goes for Chauncey Billups. That is why I sat this one out. I didn’t even bother to watch the thing like most of you.

You may be asking yourself how I can be so critical without even watching the NBA’s “competition” in the first place, but I did clips like the one below.

Here, you have Chauncey Billups matched up with Trae Young. Billups is out there on what looks like a regulation sized court. Then there is Young shooting an adjustable hoop outside outside of his mansion. I mean, it isn’t like Young really needs a NBA caliber basket at his house, but if this was all it took I could have been in this competition.

I do appreciate the NBA trying to create something with COVID-19 taking over the sports world, but this was not it. The people who did actually decide to watch it probably turned it off 10 minutes in too, considering the camera work was less than ideal.

And like I just said, I like the effort; but that doesn’t mean it was a good idea. But I hope the league goes back to the drawing board, because right now watching their players talk on Instagram live has been the most entertaining part of this quarantine.
