The Latest on the Jack Eichel Situation
It seems like yesterday when the Tampa Bay Lightning won their second Stanley Cup in a row. It’s now September and we are on the verge of the 2021-2022 NHL season. A story that has been going on during the entire offseason, the Jack Eichel situation in Buffalo. The Sabres captain has been topic of conversation regarding his injury and his future in Buffalo. In this article, I’m going to give you an update on the situation.
The Update
According to John Wawrow of the Associated Press, Eichel will be reporting to team physicals this week.

I’m sure everyone is aware but Eichel has been dealing with a neck injury for a few months now. Since then, Eichel has switched agents and believe it or not, he is still a Buffalo Sabre. I am honestly shocked that he is still on the team but with him being in the situation he’s in, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised he’s still with Buffalo. I think it’s safe to say no matter who he plays for, he will not be ready for the start of this upcoming season. He still hasn’t gotten surgery on his neck and whatever procedure he gets, the recovery time will be a few weeks at least.
Final Thoughts
So this is where we are as of right now. Eichel is still with the Sabres and we don’t know when he’ll be getting his surgery. A few months ago, I thought he was out of the door sooner rather than later. Now, I think he still will be traded, I just can’t predict when. It’s unfortunate that I still think Jack will be gone because he’s an amazing player and the Sabres franchise haven’t had a franchise player like in a long time. We’ll see what the coming days and weeks brings us but this is the most recent update about the Sabres captain.
