“The Last Dance” Episode Seven and Eight Reactions

What have most of us been watching lately? If you didn’t answer “The Last Dance”, then you may want to leave this article now. You’re still with me? Perfect! Let’s keep going. The documentary series had episodes seven and eight last night. Fellow Couch Guy Sports writer Jarrod Ribaudo and myself have teamed up to give our thoughts on the whole series through the first six episodes. This week, it’s my turn to put out what we both thought about the episodes.

Episode 7: Jordan’s Father’s Murder, Michael Tries for the MLB

This was certainly a hard one to watch off the bat. James Jordan gets murdered by two 18 year old cowards. Then, we see the greatest basketball player of all time trade his shoes for a pair of spikes. Imagine having to go to Double-A because media outlets are better there than in Rookie Ball? Holy smokes man! I knew nothing of the 13 game hitting streak to start the season. Also, I was starting to buy into M.J. potentially making it to the MLB. Former manager Terry Francona said the same thing:

That’s a huge sign of respect. We also saw Scottie Pippen take over as the leading man on the Bulls. Poor Scottie man, he gets made out to look TERRIBLE in this! I get the frustration. On the other hand, I get where his teammates were coming from when they said they were let down. But it was clear they couldn’t win without Jordan. Episode seven was a classic. So what would episode eight bring?

Episode 8: DON’T TRASHTALK MICHAEL, Jordan Wins 4th Title on Father’s Day

When are people going to learn not to trash talk this man?! He practically makes up his own sources of motivation! Look at some of the names and what happened when he came back to the NBA and they trash talked him. Nick Anderson? Sweep. Gary Payton? Took a title from him. Reggie Miller? Well, we haven’t officially seen it yet. But we know where it’s going. Plus, how about the ending with winning his fourth title on Father’s Day. The raw emotion from Jordan is second to none. Everyone related with him in that moment.

In Conclusion

This is almost over. It’s kind of surreal, isn’t it? I can’t wait to see the end with the last two titles, the actual break-up, and any other twists and turns they throw our way. Now you’re all caught up. So enjoy next Sunday, because we may never get a documentary like this ever again!
