We are about to witness the greatest return to Cleveland in their sports history.
No but seriously, this is actually a good trade for both sides. Delly’s contract is ridiculous (2 years, $18M) for the amount of production the Bucks are getting out of him. I think that George Hill is the perfect veteran point guard to pair alongside Giannis and Middleton. He doesn’t need the ball a lot to be productive, which is good when you’re playing with one of the best players in the game. I guess my only issue is the price tag of 2 years, $37M. If you include Eric Bledsoe’s contract, the Bucks are dedicating $34M to the point guard position this season alone. It’s a lot of money, but it may wind up being worth it when the playoffs come around.
I also really like this for the Cavs. Not only do they get to bring Delly back (which is a win in itself), but Jon Henson is a pretty good piece to receive in exchange for Hill. They’re also getting both first and second round picks, which is always a nice addition to any trade. Overall, I think this will end up being a solid deal for both teams.
