The Eastern Conference is Heating up

The NBA season has had its full share of up and downs. However, the league continues to push through and does not have any intentions to pause the season. This past week, the Eastern Conference welcomed another superstar, James Harden, who was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a four-way deal.

Now, as we look at the standings in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics hold onto the one seed, despite having three games postponed this past week. The team just took care of business against the Orlando Magic without their star player, Jayson Tatum, who is recovering from COVID-19.

The Milwaukee Bucks, however, are right behind the Celtics, and it seems, to me, that people are now sleeping on the Bucks. Despite, playoff troubles, this team does in fact still have the recent two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he does not plan on slowing down anytime soon. The Bucks just squeezed out a good win against a team who is on the rise in the Dallas Mavericks.

Now, with James Harden being traded to the Nets, what does this mean for the rest of the conference? The 76ers were one of those teams involved in trade talks with the Houston Rockets about Harden but seems that the both sides couldn’t come to terms. The Sixers are still a very good team and with a very good coach in, Doc Rivers. This team isn’t the same old Sixers team we are used too.

The Nets are going to have three dominant players in Kyrie Irving, but who knows what he will be up to at the end of the season, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. Will it work? I consistently go back and forth with it. Like yes, they are all great players but all need the ball. Usually, when people question whether something is going to work or not, it usually ends up working. However, I really don’t know about these three. When watching the Houston Rockets and their offense, it was all about Harden. I do not think there was a possession where Harden didn’t have the ball and yes, that is expected when you are the best player on the floor. However, with three superstars who need the ball and are great at creating their own shots, a sense of tension could come.

The trade sure made everything more intense in the Eastern Conference. I can see one of the greatest finishes this year with one greatly intense playoff matchups. Kyrie will return soon for the Nets and once that happens, that is when the real season will begin.
