Finn Balor lost the Intercontinental Championship on RAW this past Monday. If you’re anything like me, you were also hoping to see Balor go into WrestleMania with a title. Last year was his first Mania and he came up just short for the same title. It’s extremely rare to see a title change so close to WrestleMania. So what does this mean for Balor going into the event? I have a hunch that he will have a huge role in the show. We may even see The Demon.
On January 12th of this year, Balor posted a photo of him, performing a signature move on The Undertaker. Obviously photoshopped, as they’ve never had a match together, this was like almost 200,000 times. Speculation immediately started as to what the post meant. Could it be foreshadowing? Could Finn just be having fun with his fans? Well I believe a little of both. I think the post was just to have a little bit of fun, but now it looks as if the match is a real possibility. Finn has been on a tear lately, starting with almost defeating Brock Lesnar. He then went on to win the Intercontinental Championship and actually get to defend it a couple of times. A marquee match with the dead man would be yet another huge spot for Balor this year, and could be a ton of momentum heading into the year.
Now as of this posting, The Undertaker has not appeared on any recent television. With only four episodes of Monday Night RAW left before WrestleMania, the seeds would have to be planted soon. Now with The Undertaker not being confirmed for WrestleMania, it has been reported that he is currently telling other companies that he is not available for bookings that weekend. This leads us to believe something may be in the works. It would make a lot of sense for this to be The Undertakers last match. We already know that Kurt Angle will have his retirement match on the same night, so why not give a proper send off to another legend. If Balor were to be the superstar to officially end the phenom’s career, it would solidify him as the main event star he has started to become. Not to mention the allure of “The Demon King” persona making an appearance as well.
