The Daily (1/6/21)

Well, yesterday was not the type of debut day of the daily that I was hoping for. You know what that means, it means that your boy is poised for a big bounce back day today. As always make sure you follow the chasers on twitter (@thechasers617) and make sure to give the Chasers a listen on spotify and sound cloud as well. With that being said here are my daily picks for Wednesday January 6th.

CBB:

Arkansas vs Tennessee

We have a great one tonight in Knoxville as the 9-1 Arkansas Razorbacks are taking on the number nine team in the country the Tennessee Volunteers. Both teams are coming off losses to SEC opponents. With Arkansas trying to come back after their blunder at home against Missouri, while Tennessee is looking to bounce back after their home loss to Alabama on Saturday. The Razorbacks will be without forward Justin Smith and that is a huge loss for Arkansas. He is a versatile forward that creates matchup issues for opposing bigs.

This matchup has a plethora of guards that play a ton of minutes for both sides. One matchup in particular that I am looking forward to seeing is Victor Bailey Jr. going up against Moses Moody. Both are leading their teams in scoring and tonight should be a great one between these two SEC teams. For me personally with Tennessee being a 8.5 point favorite it makes me believe that Vegas thinks Tennessee should blow Arkansas out at home. That will not be the case tonight as I see Arkansas keeping this within the number as they are 6-3 against the spread this year.

The Play: Arkansas +8.5 (1.09u/1u)

Minnesota vs Michigan

This top 25 big ten matchup is going to be a good one in Ann Arbor. We have the 16th ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers going up against the 10th ranked Michigan Wolverines. Michigan is undefeated and has looked like a completely different team than a season ago. Now in Juwan Howard’s second year the Wolverines are looking to be back as the top dog in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are led by senior Isaiah Livers and freshman Hunter Dickinson. Dickinson a four star recruit from the class of 2020 as looked very good so far for Howard’s team. Leading the team in points per game and rebounds per game this freshman has made an immediate impact. Now they also have senior Isaiah Livers who is the captain of this team, but Dickinson is the one that deserves more of the spotlight. Michigan is a tough team and looks like the play against Minnesota tonight.

Well let’s take a look at the spread shall we as the Wolverines are a 7.5 point favorite over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. There is one thing to say about the Golden Gophers and that is at home they are an unstoppable force. Unfortunately they are playing on the road tonight, and in their two road games so far this season they haven’t looked the same. They are led by juniors Marcus Carr and Liam Robbins who will be a handful for the Wolverines tonight. Now will the Golden Gophers to enough to stay within the number tonight? I do believe they can stay within the number yes, but with them playing on the road is my cause of concern tonight. The number wants you to take Minnesota because you expect this to be close tonight, but the play tonight is.

Play: Michigan -7.5 (1.1u/1u)

Other CBB Plays:

Tulsa ML (1.1u/1u)

UMASS -4.5 (2.24u/2u)

Virginia Tech ML (1u/1.65u)

Boston College +11.5 (1.1u/1u)

Wake Forest +14 (1.1u/1u)

Oklahoma +11 (1.1u/1u)

NBA:

Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat

We have a rematch of the Eastern Conference Final tonight as one of our primetime Wednesday Night games. The Boston Celtics are on the road against the Miami Heat. The last time these two teams met we saw the Miami Heat celebrating as Eastern Conference Champions. Well we have the Celtics who are dealing with injuries, as the Heat will look to take advantage of that. Now with the potential of Marcus Smart being out with a thumb injury and to see that the Heat are only 2.5 point favorites against the Celtics just doesn’t make sense to me.

The Heat are suppose to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, how are you only 2.5 point favorites over the Celtics. Oh yeah that’s right, they still have the Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum that is still playing. With the way that this duo has played this year this 2.5 point underdog seems like a no brainer to me. Miami has looked to inconsistent for me to consider taking them here, but I also really like the total in this one. So I have three plays in this one and it goes as followed.

Plays: Boston ML (1u/1.14u), Over 218 (2.24u/2u), and Over 29.5 PTS REB and ASTS Jaylen Brown (1.22u/1u)

Other NBA Plays:

Westbrook Triple Double (1u/1.55u)

Knicks +7 (1.1u/1u)

Bulls +7 (1.08u/1u)
