The Daily (1/17/21)

Welcome back to another edition of the daily. Today we are jammed packed yet again with four sports that we will be discussing today. As we have the other two divisional round matchups in the NFL. We also have a good slate of games not only in the NBA and NHL, but in college basketball as well. With that being said here are my daily picks.

NFL: 

Tampa Bay vs New Orleans 

For the third time this season these two teams are meeting head to head. The Saints have won the first two meetings this season, and will look to become the first team ever to beat Tom Brady three times in a single season. This game in my opinion could go two ways. The first way is how things have gone so far when these two have played and that is us seeing Brady struggle and the Saints prevailing yet again. The second way is that both offenses struggle and this game comes up to which defense performs better. With the Saints being the favorite at home as they should be, but the majority of the money going on Tampa Bay it is making me really think about this decision.

My play in this one doesn’t have a winner via spread, or even moneyline for that matter. My play in this one has to do with the over/under which is set at 52 right now. The two times these teams met this season we had a high scoring affair, and then we had an embarrassment of a showing put on by Tampa Bay. We won’t see that embarrassing performance again.

NBA: 

Utah vs Denver 

The Utah Jazz are on the road tonight at Denver. Utah sits at 8-4 and have won four straight games, while Denver is 6-6 and have won three out of their last four. This is going to be a very entertaining game as we will see some matchups that will be must watch matchups in some people’s eyes. For example the best all-around center in the league Jokic going up against the Stifle Tower Rudy Gobert. That matchup is solely based on Jokic having the ball and Gobert defending him. We then have Conley and Mitchell going up against Murray and one of Will Barton or Gary Harris.

Denver is the favorite in this one (-1.5) and that sounds about right in my opinion. Utah in the four game winning streak has won by double digits in every single game, but in Denver tonight they are in trouble. The Jazz are 3-7 straight up in their last ten meetings with Denver and are 2-8 against the spread. This is my lock of the day as a matter of fact.
