The Daily (1/13/21)

Welcome back to another edition of the daily. Today we have a lot of action to talk about as we have a lot of games on today. We have the start of the NHL season tonight, to go along with games on the hardwood and on the soccer pitch as well. Action packed Wednesday will be happening today, and with that being said here are my daily picks for today.

NHL:

Montreal vs Toronto

The Montreal Canadiens start off the season on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Montreal went into the bubble as the bottom seed in the Eastern Conference and ended up beating the five seed Penguins in four games. Then they lost to the Flyers in the first round in six games. Meanwhile for the Maple Leafs their season ended in the bubble as they lost to Columbus in the qualifying round in five games. Toronto brings in a new head coach and tonight he is making his debut for the Maple Leafs.

Toronto promoted their AHL coach Sheldon Keefe to be their next head coach. The Maple Leafs are still very much so an all-around talented team. They still have a solid top six, and have a reliable goaltender in Frederik Andersen. For the Canadiens they have gotten better offensively bringing in Josh Anderson and Tyler Toffoli to go along with Jonathan Drouin, Brendan Gallagher and company. This game is going to be a good one to start off the season and my pick is as followed.

Pick: Toronto ML (1.32u/1u), First Goal Auston Matthews (1u/7u)

Other NHL Plays:

Flyers ML (1.05u/1u)

Under 6.5 (Chicago Tampa Bay) (1.24u/1u)

Patrick Kane To Score (1u/2u)

Vancouver ML (1u/1.18u)

Colorado ML (1.48u/1u)

CBB:

Texas Tech vs Texas

The number 15th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders are on the road at number four Texas tonight. Another great Big 12 matchup that we get to see as both schools are on the rise. Texas Tech is led by junior Mac McClung and sophomore Terrence Shannon Jr. While if you don’t already know the Longhorns have a three headed monster in the back court of Ramey, Coleman III, and Jones. Also they have their stud freshman Greg Brown who is creating matchup nightmares for opposing bigs.

The Red Raiders have Baylor also on the schedule this Saturday so this is a pivotal game for them to stay afloat in the Big 12. Texas Tech is currently 3-2 in the Big 12 and will go down the totem pole if they lost to Texas tonight. Texas Tech are going to give it their all tonight, while Texas is looking to fight for that Big 12 regular season title still as well. The Longhorns are a 2.5 point favorite tonight, and I am leaning towards taking them giving up the points. However there is a little something in the back of my head telling me to take the Red Raiders. With that being said my picks for this game is as followed.

Picks: Texas -2.5 (1.07u/1u), Over 131 (1.08u/1u)

Other CBB Plays:

Florida State -3.5 (1.12u/1u)

Northwestern +8 (1.06u/1u)

Tulsa +4 (1.08u/1u)

Arkansas ML (1u/1.04u)

Auburn ML (1.15u/1u)

URI -2.5 (1.12u/1u)

Georgetown -2.5 (1.12u/1u)

NBA:

New Orleans vs Los Angeles Clippers

The New Orleans Pelicans are on the road taking on the Los Angeles Clippers. New Orleans will be without Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe which is a huge hit for their back court. The Clippers on the other hand are healthy and will look to end their win one game then loss the next one streak. New Orleans is looking to end a three game skid, but Brandon Ingram and company have a big test in front of them. The last time these two teams met was in the bubble when the Clippers demolished them.

I think with the Clippers giving 7.5 points tonight it is making me contemplate on what to take here. Without a starting point guard I can see the Pelicans struggling tonight, but I could also see the Clippers not covering this one as well. So with that logic here is the play that I am going to take in this one. The play that I am going to take is as followed.

Pick: Over 218 (2.2u/2u)

Other NBA Plays:

Over 219.5 (Brooklyn New York) (1.12u/1u)

Charlotte ML (1u/1.43u)

EPL:

Over 3 (Man City Brighton) (1.15u/1u)

Tottenham -1 (1.15u/1u)
