The 76ers Made the Most Savage Move of the NBA DRAFT

Aren’t hometown stories in sports always great? We almost got another one last night when the 76ers took hometown kid Mikal Bridges 10th overall out of Villanova. Just look at how happy him and his mom were after they heard his name:
Mikal Bridges mom talking about she’s excited that her son is going to play for the Sixers where she works…..he gets traded to Phoenix about 10 minutes later…Cold world pic.twitter.com/3puYQQcfFq

It was almost a storybook ending for the kid, whose mom also works for the team I should mention. Then, the 76ers ripped both of their heart’s out with one trade:
Suns are acquiring Mikal Bridges in a deal that will send Smith to Sixers, league source tells ESPN. Suns will send 2021 first-round pick via Miami in deal too.

Traded to the Phoenix Suns. How cold-hearted can you be if you’re Philly? I get it’s a business, but god damn. They were so excited that Bridges was able to stay in Philly. All for NOTHING. Cold world, no blankets.
In all seriousness though, Philadelphia is stupid for trading Bridges. The guy they got in return, Zhaire Smith, is a fine player and all, but I’m pretty high on Mikal Bridges. He could wind up being a very special scorer, and giving up on him like that was one of the many questionable moves that the 76ers made during last night’s draft.
