The 2019 Clover Report: Week 13
The Celtics four game home stand continued to start Week 13 off as they hosted the Dallas Mavericks.
Undermanned, the Celtics started the game out with their foot on the gas and never trailed. They won going away 114-93 as Jaylen Brown continued his recent success with 21 points while Marcus Smart added 17 points with five three-pointers made.
But the highlight of the night was the Garden giving Dirk Nowitzki a standing ovation in what is likely his last game in Boston. For me, Dirk is one of the 20 greatest players to ever play the game and it was so awesome seeing the Garden give him his due.
Next up, the Celtics hosted a division opponent in the Brooklyn Nets. Both Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris made their returns from their respective injuries.
Similar to the Mavs game, the Celtics got off to a hot start and never looked back. They won going away 116-95 as eight different Celtics scored double figures. It was a nice balanced attack from Boston to show how deep this team can be.
Finally, the Celtics closed out the week and the home stand against the Indiana Pacers.
This was a big game as the Pacers currently sit in the 3rd spot in the East while the Celtics are currently 5th.
Just like the Mavs and Nets games, the Celtics dominated from the tip and destroyed Indiana 135-108.
It was the most points the Celtics have scored in regulation in the Brad Stevens era. The Celtics shot 57% from the floor, 44% from 3, and 88% from the line.
It was a great week for the Celtics as they took care of business at home and it’s the best they’ve looked as a team all year. But they need to keep it up to get back in the race for a top two seed. 25–15.
