The 2019 Clover Report: Week 1
The Boston Celtics are back and you know what that means. THE CLOVER REPORT IS BACK! For those who don’t know, I recap every single week of the season on Thursdays here at Couch Guy Sports. Expectations are sky-high for the Boston Celtics so expect a ton of coverage here. Sadly we only have the season opener to discuss but let’s get into it.
The Celtics kicked off the season against division rival and very talented Philadelphia 76ers. The Garden erupted during the player intros as Kyrie Irving made his return and Gordon Hayward suited up for the 1st time since his gruesome injury. Lots of emotions were running high but we had a game to play.
The game got off to a sloppy start as both the 76ers and the Celtics looked really rusty. But after the 1st, the Celtics began to pull away and won 105–87. Jayson Tatum came out swinging as the 20-year-old finished with 23 points and 9 rebounds. What made this win even more impressive was that Kyrie and Gordon combined to go 6-26 from the floor. Their two best players played terrible and the Celtics won going away. If that doesn’t show you how dangerous this team is, I don’t know what will. 1-0.
