Takeaways From Patriots/Bills

The Buffalo Bills are now 6-2 after defeating the team that has dominated them for two decades, the New England Patriots on Sunday by a final score 0f 24-21. There were a couple of things I noticed from the Bills that I will discuss in this article.

Running backs step up

Stock up, stock down following Buffalo Bills' win over the Patriots

One thing that was evident in this game was Buffalo’s running backs. Both Devin Singletary and Zack Moss stepped up in the victory over the Patriots. Each player had 14 carries but Moss had the better game. Starting off with Singletary, he registered 86 yards. Moss rushed for 81 yards but scored two touchdowns. It feels like each player is starting to find their rhythm and that’s a good thing for the Bills. Going down the stretch, Buffalo has some tough opponents coming up. If each running back can continue to produce, then the Bills offense are in good shape.

Defense gets the job done

Cam Newton's reaction to his fumble against the Bills? 'Unacceptable' - Pats Pulpit

Despite having a good first half, Buffalo’s defense was on the verge of letting New England score with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter. Someone had to make a big play and that’s just what defensive tackle Justin Zimmer did. With just about 30 seconds remaining, Zimmer was able to punch the ball out of Patriots quarterback Cam Newton’s hands, causing a fumble. Safety Dean Marlowe recovered the ball, giving Buffalo their first victory at home against New England since 2011. Even though it wasn’t looking good, the defense came up clutch when it mattered the most.

Josh Allen finally gets over the hump

Buffalo Bills need Josh Allen to regain early-season form

On Sunday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was able to achieve something he’s never done before, getting a win over New England. He went 11/18, throwing for 154 yards, no touchdowns and threw one interception. When it comes to rushing, he got 23 yards on 10 carries, scoring one touchdown. Even though he didn’t have a game that was MVP worthy, it was satisfying to see him win against the team that has been his kryptonite in his young career, especially since he will see them every year.

After beating New England, the Bills will have a tough challenge coming up this weekend. MVP candidate Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks will travel to Buffalo on Sunday. You can catch the game on FOX @1pm.
