Stone Cold Steve Austin: Happy 3:16 Day!

If you are a WWE fan, there is nothing better than hearing the sound of the glass shattering and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s music beginning to play in the arena. The pop is absolutely insane from the WWE Universe every single time.

Austin is a former six-time WWE champion and made it cool in pop culture to hate your boss after his amazing feud with Vince McMahon. Austin would give thoughts to masses what it would be like to give your boss the middle finger and stun his ass in the office.

The two propelled the WWE into the best era of wrestling known as the Attitude Era. The Rattlesnake’s spat’s with McMahon were always must see television. As the wrestling world celebrates 3:16 Day, let’s take a look at one of the most iconic moments in WWE history.

The Bed Pan

Twenty one years ago, Austin and McMahon had one of the most iconic moments in WWE history. Austin would attack McMahon in the hospital and he would beat the chairman with a bed pan.

McMahon was in the hospital back in October 1998 after he had injured his ankle on Raw. While he was in the hospital the world was introduced to Mr. Socko who Mick Foley brought in to cheer up McMahon.

While in the hospital, McMahon was growing frustrated with his nurse and Mr. Socko and Mick Foley were determined to get him out. Later in the episode, the nurse asked the doctor for a final check up on McMahon.

“Oh, I’ll take it from here, Nurse,” said Austin, who didn’t give McMahon a chance to react and he would open a can of whoop ass.

Austin would repeatedly lambast McMahon’s wrapped up injured foot and wallop him over the head with a bed pan. The scene would end with Austin using the shock paddles on McMahon.

The Austin-McMahon hospital scene was one of the best moments of the attitude era. It will never be duplicated again by WWE or even their rival AEW.

Celebrate 3:16 Day with a Cold One

On June 23, 1996, Austin 3:16 was born. Following the 1996 King of the Ring where Austin defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts, he would cut an iconic promo.

The promo would birth one of the greatest catchphrases in the history of sports entertainment. Austin would mock Roberts faith and spawned the memorable phrase allowing WWE fans to celebrate today.

“Talk about your psalms, you talk about your John 3:16 — well Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass.”

Speaking of whooping some ass, Bill Belichick is loading up the roster for a Super Bowl. What a wild start to NFL Free Agency, so crack open a cold one, start chanting What? like Austin and celebrate the day.

“And that’s bottom line, because Stone Cold said so.”
