#SoccerSaturdays: FA Cup Quarterfinals Underway!

The weekend is finally here! Whats up everyone and welcome back for more #SoccerSaturdays.

What an absolute week it has been for the world of sports overall, while free agency continues in some and the season is soon to start in others, the world of soccer is putting together an amazing ending to a great season.

In this weeks’ edition of #SoccerSaturdays, we need to bring up the amazing quarterfinals happening in the FA Cup. Europe’s oldest national tournament, the FA Cup is coming down to an end and the quarterfinal teams are packing a mean pack of emotions. Let’s get to the action, shall we?

Saturday’s Action

Southampton vs. Bournemouth

Southampton v Bournemouth: Confirmed line-ups and match preview for Premier League clash – talkSPORT

As a fan, you probably look at this match and think, SNOOZER! However, I would say not so fast there fella. Southampton and Bournemouth have absolutely nothing to lose here and in fact, this may be a more beneficial game for Southampton than anything else. While Ralph Hasenhuttl and company have continued a good campaign in the English Premier League, this here motivates the rest of this team to know that they got far more to go.

For Bournemouth, this is an important match to realize what they need to improve on. In this match, they can pickup essential ideas to improve their game and continue their run towards a return to the EPL. Either way, my prediction is a Southampton victory of maybe 3-1, could even be a 2-0 win for the Saints.

Everton vs. Manchester City.

Now this is a game that I will be sure to tune into! A match between two extremely well coached sides, great experience and lots of passion. The Toffees have a tall task ahead though, as we at the Yellow Card Podcast have been saying, Manchester City is just an insanely talented wrecking ball coming thru the EPL. However, that isn’t to say that the Toffees can’t measure up to City.

In fact, these two teams can put on quite the show. While statically speaking, the last time these two sides met in the FA Cup was back in 1980-81 when the Citizens won 3-1, Everton have won the last four times in the FA Cup when playing at home. I would think this will be a very creative but offensively driven game for both sides and while there are some weaknesses that both teams can exploit, I think this match will actually end in a 2-1 score for Manchester City but it won’t be an easy victory over Everton.

Sunday’s Knockout Punch!

Chelsea vs. Sheffield United.

A great battle ahead too. Many will look at this game and automatically think it will be a blow out for Chelsea over Sheffield. However, the one thing many seem to remiss is that fact that Sheffield plays its toughest when competing against top tier teams like Chelsea.

Since 1992, the Blues have won their last 6 meetings against Sheffield in the FA Cup. In the Premier League, Sheffield has struggled in many ways to get themselves out of relegation but have never quit putting up a fight.

In this meeting, I think the Blues will have a difficult time playing against this defensive side but the advantage of playing at Stamford Bridge will come in handy too. Tuchel’s boys will definitely bring in the results needed, however I see a potential 3-1 victory for the Blues.

Manchester United vs. Leicester City.

Manchester United vs Leicester City: EPL Match Preview and Prediction

What a great way to end the week with soccer content! These two have met on some of the most important matches as of the past three years for both teams. In this opportunity, it is now the FA Cup and it will surely be a heavily contended match. While United have hit a good stride and now Paul Pogba is back in the picture after delivering a victory in San Siro during the Europa League, it is important to note that Leicester is no easy pie.

Leicester for weeks have been battling the Red Devils for the second place in the English premier League. The Foxes have lacked to close things up when the opportunity has been presented, but the question is! Will it be the same thing here in the FA Cup? Can Rodgers and his team rally to get things done?

While personally I am a United fan and would love to see United win this, I think we have a very tough battle ahead. In my opinion, this game could end tied 2-2 at King Power Stadium and it will be up to United to close things up at Old Trafford.
