Soccer Fans, this is the Christmas Day we are all wishing for as the English Premier League gets underway.

The EPL is set to be the most exciting league this year, rightfully so! The English league was the busiest it could’ve been in the transfer market. For some teams, the hopes are to finish in a much better place than last year, some others come back after a relegation period. Meanwhile for others this year may mean trophies.

Today marks the beginning of the 2020-2021 season and the schedule for today brings opportunity to see some of these signings shine thru. Let me bring you this week’s action.

Premier League 2020/21 fixtures released

So What Can We Expect on Day 1?

Well, this day 1 is definitely set for loads of action. Why do I say that?

Arsenal features today a brand new team having signed center-back Gabriel and also bringing Willian from London rivals, Chelsea FC. Fulham on the other hand, feature the youngest manager in the EPL this year with Scott Parker. The match between Arsenal and Fulham is already over as of this writing and the new signings are already making a dent.

Willian finished today with a hat-trick of assists, while the center-back Gabriel scored a goal on his debut with Arsenal off a corner kick!

Arsenal won this match 3-0. Perfect start for the gunners with a clean sheet and three points!

Crystal Palace vs. Southampton & West Ham vs. Newcastle FC.

Ex-England national head coach, Roy Hodgson comes into another season leading Crystal Palace who finished 12th last year.

Crystal Palace was also rumored for major change to happen with Wilfried Zaha potentially leaving the club. However, who are we kidding, especially after today’s lethal start by Zaha!

Palace close the game today with a 1-0 win over Southampton. Palace looked really good with Guaita in the net getting a clean sheet, and with Ebere Eze making his debut.

West Ham vs. Newcastle will also be a very nice showdown! My prediction is Newscastle wins this one as Steve Bruce loaded up in the free market with incoming transfers of the likes of Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson out of Bournemouth. 3 days ago they also announced the signing of Jamal Lewis from Norwich City.

Leeds United Vs. Liverpool FC.

The defending champions, Liverpool FC are set to start their season against a recently promoted Leeds United after 16 years without Premier League action.

Liverpool will surely show no mercy especially as they can come onto the pitch with a bit of an arrogant attitude, not only after being champions but they also have a loaded team with a fantastic coach in Jurgen Klopp.

However, do not underestimate nor fall asleep on Leeds United! The club lead by Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa, was rumored throughout the break to potentially bring big signings like Rafinha out of Barcelona, yeah!

The start to their comeback on the English Premier League is already off to a rocky start as they concede a penalty in the box due to a handball but they can definitely come back and as of 30 seconds from this writing, they have done that!

Personally I see Leeds United ending in the top 10 this year, the team is young and their concentration and passion is there for sure. They also have a heck of a leader in Marcelo Bielsa and it will not come as a surprise to me if maybe this game even ends in a tie with Liverpool.

Rest Of The Weekend, Expectations?

We will see Leicester City, Tottenham, West Bromwich and Everton get their season underway. While Tottenham will have Jose Mourinho going into his second season with the Spurs, Carlo Ancelotti is no rookie and boy has his loaded up the team!

Signings like Allan from Napoli and James Rodriguez from Real Madrid will be set to get the team moving. I am big James Rodriguez follower as he is Colombian as well and an excellent player.

The Premier League will surely be a challenge as James lacks of speed and physicality. However, do not underestimate him either as the guy is a midfield genius and on his first season with Real Madrid, the guy was quite impressive and even scored some sensational goals with the Spanish giants.

Everton will also be featuring a great signing in Abdoulaye Doucouré as he also joins Ancelotti at Everton.

In Conclusion…

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this article, the English Premier league was quite busy in the transfer market. Debuting signings can be expected to make their impact on week 1, as well as, Leeds United to bring a tough game for Liverpool to start their 2020-2021 campaign.
