It’s now June and the Red Sox sit at 39-26. However, a lot of Red Sox fans may be starting to worry. Why you may ask? Well, it’s because of the pitching. Should we now be concerned with the Red Sox pitching? Well, here’s a stat that you may want to shield your eyes to right now.
#RedSox have now allowed 48 runs in their last 49.2 innings.

Maybe it could be a June swoon? Could it be that the Red Sox aren’t as good as advertised? Let’s take a look at a few tidbits.
Should We Now Be Concerned with the Red Sox Pitching Keeping the Ball in the Yard?

So this is a bit concerning! The Boston Red Sox gave up eight homeruns to the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday. Eight! That’s not good if you’re trying to contend for an A.L. East title. The problem with the Red Sox is they’re not keeping the ball inside of the ballpark. That’s a crazy concept to think about, I know! Nick Pivetta gave up five homeruns in his start Saturday against the Jays. You’re not going to win that many games when balls are landing on Lansdowne street.
Should We Now Be Concerned with the Red Sox Pitching Giving Up 48 Runs in Nearly 50 Innings?
Go back to the tweet earlier in the article. This is extremely concerning. The Red Sox are giving up nearly a run an inning in their last five and a half games. That means that in a whole game, you’re giving up nine runs a game. The Red Sox offense is good. But to ask for 10 runs a game? That’s a little extreme. The pitchers need to step up and keep the game reasonable for the offense. This series is giving Red Sox fans too much of 2020 vibes.
Am I concerned? Not yet. The Red Sox are still a good baseball team. Series like this happen all the time in sports. So for now, I’m going to say the Blue Jays and Astros outplayed the Red Sox. Now if they can’t beat the Royals, Braves, and Yankees…then the concern will start to settle into my brain. Let’s hope that’s not the case!
