3 Off Season Moves For The New York Rangers

The New York Rangers need to make some off-season moves. You know it, I know it, and Rangers fans across the world know it. With this in mind, let’s look at a few moves the New York Rangers can make this off-season.

Rangers Off-season Move Number 1: Hire A New Coach

After the firing of David Quinn, Jeff Gorton and John Davidson the pressure is on for the Rangers to win. The first and most important thing is to hire a coach who is going to get us over the hump and lead us back into the playoff contention in order to hopefully bring home a Stanley Cup. The right guy for this job is former Vegas Knights coach, Gerard Gallant. He is the hottest coach on the market and his resume speaks for itself. He is the perfect fit for these young Rangers and he will get the most out of the team. In three years with Vegas, he had 118 wins, 75 losses and 20 ties. Not to mention, the first year after the expansion he took Vegas to the Stanley Cup Finals where they became Western Conference Champions. This guy never should have gotten fired which means the Rangers will go all in on him as our next coach. Not to mention he just coached the Canadian World Cup Juniors to a World Championship just last week. Gallant is legit and it’s time for Drury to get it done.

Move Number 2: Trade for Jack Eichel

Coming in a number the Rangers should trade for Buffalo’s superstar center, Jack Eichel. At only twenty four years old, Jack Eichel has yet to hit his prime. When healthy he is a top five player in this league. The Ranger’s are in desperate need of a top line center and Jack Eichel checks all the boxes. Jack is unhappy in Buffalo and the trade marker for him right now is not too high due to his injury and current contract. In the end, I believe the Ranger’s will be able to trade for Jack Eichel this summer without having to give up too much star power.

Move Number 3: Keep Bunchnevich Long Term

Lastly, I want to see the Ranger’s to bring back Pavel Bunchnevich on a multi year contract. Once again this past season Bunchnevich showed that he could play in all three aspects of the game consistently. He finished this past season fourth in total points for the New York Rangers. He killed power plays and we saw him grow as a leader on this team. Locking him up long term is part of the solution for the Rangers moving forward.
