Saquon Barkley is Going to be a Star… But the Giants Should Have Drafted a Quarterback
The New York Giants have been a struggle to watch of lately. It seems like every time the Giant’s offense takes the field, the team is off the field within two minutes. Thursday night, if not for Saquon Barkley, the Giants wouldn’t have scored. However, the main position is Quarterback and Eli Manning, unfortunately, has been hurting this team.

Imagine if the Giants drafted Sam Darnold, currently the New York Jets starting Quarterback, this team could look a lot different. They had the opportunity too, having the 2nd overall pick in 2018 NFL draft while the Jets had the 3rd overall pick. Now, Coach Pat Shurmur might have rolled with Eli Manning to start the season but maybe drafting another Quarterback, could have been the spark Eli Manning needed. Another thing that could have happened is that Coach Shurmur might have made a Quarterback change by now. However, the Giants decided to draft a running back instead and they have no better option behind Manning.
Odell Beckham Jr signed a five-year contract extension worth 95 million dollars before the NFL season began. Why did they do that? Because he is one of, if not, the best wide-receiver in the league. However, he hasn’t been productive because Manning just can’t get the ball to him. There was a slimmer of hope at one point early in the season, when the team played the Carolina Panthers in week 5 because they finally scored thirty points for the first time since last game of the 2015 regular season game. Then Thursday night, struggled once again, leaving Giant fans absolutely disappointed.

This offense has talent around Manning but he is not producing. Drafting Saquon Barkley does not seem like a bad move, the question is whether it was the right move for the organization at the time. A core of talented receivers, Odell Beckham Jr, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, Cory Latimer, there just seems to be no excuse of why this offense can’t produce. Now, the drama continues, Beckham and Shepard have already had episodes on the sidelines with trash cans, an air conditioner, punching benches. I don’t see the situation getting any better with Eli Manning as their starting Quarterback as the team will be preparing for their next opponent, the Atlanta Falcons in week 7.
