Safety Eric Reid Signs With Carolina Panthers
Former San Francisco 49er and All-Pro safety Eric Reid has agreed to a 1-year deal with the Carolina Panthers.
And there it is, a sight many suspected we would not see this season, Eric Reid signing on the dotted line. https://t.co/2ldsF1C9jH

Eric Reid was the first NFL player to show support to former teammate Colin Kaepernick and took a knee during the National Anthem. It was looking like the All-Pro safety wasn’t going to have a job this season, if not ever. However, the Panthers picked up the phone and made a great move for their organization.

A division with Drew Bree’s, Matt Ryan, and right now, a hot Ryan Fitzpatrick, this move will benefit the Panthers. A defense that has let up 52 points the last two weeks, knew they needed help on the defensive side of the ball during the team’s bye week.
Love or hate the move, the Panthers made a move that benefits their football team. They put aside the fact that Reid had made headlines with Kaepernick for protesting during the National Anthem and gave him a chance. Eric Reid is a talented player and deserved a job at the beginning of the season. I’m glad that Carolina was willing to put aside political views and made a move based on team needs. Maybe other teams around the league will pick up on the trend.
