Richard Seymour gets elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame

When the Patriots won their first three Super Bowls in 2001, 2003, and 2004; they had one big thing in common. Okay yes, you could say Tom Brady as their quarterback. But the one big thing I’m talking about is their defense. Think about all of their defensive players at that time. Ty Law, Otis Smith, Lawyer Milloy, Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison, and the list goes on. One big name that was there from 2001 and on was Richard Seymour. Now? He’s getting the recognition he deserves as Richard Seymour has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Here’s a few quick thoughts on that!

His Impact on Those Patriots Defenses

Richard Seymour was a 6th overall pick out of Georgia in the 2001 NFL Draft. People thought the Patriots should take an impact offensive player, similar to a David Terrell type of player. But Belichick proved to be right with picking Seymour at 6. In eight seasons with the Patriots, Seymour had 39 sacks, was a five time Pro-Bowler, and a three time First-Team AP All-Pro recipient. Seymour was a nightmare for offensive lines during that time and the stats certainly back that statement up.

And Now…Richard Seymour is in the Hall of Fame!

Seymour was already inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Seemed like it was only a matter of time before he got the call to Canton. It’s hard to think of the first three Patriots Super Bowls without Richard Seymour. He was constantly putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks! And now? He’s getting the respect he deserves!

In Conclusion

Richard Seymour deserves to be a Hall of Famer. No question about it! He was an absolute force with the Patriots in his years here. He also had some nice moments with the Oakland Raiders as well! Congrats to a Patriots defensive legend. Very well-deserved!
