The All-Star game has come and go and the second half of the season is under way. The whole event was awesome and different, which is a good thing. Vegas did it in their own style and it was fun to watch. Before the start of the All-Star festivities, a lot of teams performed well, and a lot teams performed bad. Here is a odds projector to teams to make the playoffs.

Most of those teams toward the top were expected to be there, outside of maybe Nashville and Los Angeles. You could make an argument about the Flames as well. The most underperforming team this year is the Montreal Canadians, and its not even close. Last year, the team made it to the Stanley Cup final, and almost a year later, are 8-33-7(23 points). The Flyers are also another team that underperformed even though the team made some moves in the off-season that many people thought they got better.

Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference should have the same teams in the playoffs later on down the road, based of today’s standings. Could be different seeding’s by then, but unless a team goes on a crazy run, don’t see anything changing. The Panthers seem to be team to beat this year out of the east. Carolina is staying steady and ready to go toe-to-toe with the Panthers. You still have your usual team like Boston, Washington, and Pittsburgh, but their time has come and gone. The Florida Panthers will be the Eastern Conference Champions this year.

Western Conference

The Western Conference is a different story. The Central is a five-headed monster and first place is up for grabs. Don’t sleep on the Jets, they could find a way to sneak into the playoffs this year. The Pacific is dominated by the Flames and Knights and the third spot is up for grabs. The Oilers adding Evander Kane may help them sneak into the playoffs. Colorado is the team to beat. They have been the best team in the West over the last two seasons, but can’t find a way to get over the hump. I think it continues, the Calgary Flames will be the Western Conference Champions.

Stanley Cup Final

The Stanley Cup Final will between the Florida Panthers and the Calgary Flames. This will be a great series. It may not be a fan favorite, but both these teams have the all-around bases to make their run. Will we see 7 games? Will we see a sweep? No, we will not. The Florida Panthers will win the Stanley Cup in 6 games. Joe Thornton will finally get him a cup and call it a career. Aleksander Barkov will win the Conn Smythe.
