Rex Burkhead Powers Patriots to Week Three Win Over Raiders

The New England Patriots needed a huge bounce back win this week. They came up one yard short of an upset over the Seahawks in Seattle. But remember, this is the Patriots we’re talking about here. They needed to get a job done and it gone done indeed. Behind Rex Burkhead’s three touchdowns, the Patriots easily beat the Las Vegas Raiders 36-20.

With the win, the Patriots move to 2-1 and have a brutal matchup next Sunday afternoon. That matchup? Arrowhead Stadium and the Kansas City Chiefs. But before we get to thinking about the Chiefs, let’s recap the Raiders win.

Rex Burkhead and the Rest of the RB Crew

Rex Burkhead was the star in this one as he had three touchdown runs. He didn’t have many carries today, but boy did he make them count. Burkhead looked more explosive out of the backfield than the last two weeks. Another back who had a great day was Sony Michel with nine carries for 117 yards.

Raiders Miscues

The Raiders made a LOT of mistakes in this football game. I mean, a 4th and 2 neutral infraction? That can’t happen. A fumble in your own end zone? That ALSO can’t happen. The Patriots played well in several areas. But it definitely helped that the Raiders gave them some BIG breaks in this one.

The Beast Next Week

This was obviously a good win for the Patriots to get back on the winning track. But guess what? They have a Goliath they have to get over in the Kansas City Chiefs. This Chiefs team is talented from top to bottom of the roster. But after seeing the Patriots play the Seahawks, I’m kind of convinced this will be somewhat of a game. I think the Chiefs still win. But I think the Patriots make it incredibly interesting. We’ll see what happens. But for now, solid win this week for the Patriots to help them improve to 2-1.
