Rest In Peace Stan Lee, You Meant So Much

Today was a day that millions of people have been dreading and sadly, it finally happened.

Stan Lee, the former editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics and the co-creator of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, Daredevil, Hulk, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man has passed away at 95 years old.

Even though I knew it was coming, it still shocked me and hit me harder than I thought. I’m not going to make a big spiel about this here because thousands already have. But I wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

Stan Lee created some of the most iconic fictional characters of all-time and those characters have touched the heart of not millions, but billions. I am one of those billions.

Not only did he make these heroes larger than life, but he made them relatable. For me, Spider-Man is my favorite fictional character ever because I see myself in him. Stan wanted to do that for all types of people.

Lee said once:

“I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain, you’re doing a good thing.”

I couldn’t agree more. Sometimes we just want to get away from it all and just hear a good story. And because of Stan Lee, we have the greatest movie franchise of all-time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as millions of comic-books.

Rest well, Stan. I hope you find peace on the other side and yes, you did make a difference.
