Remembering Big Moments from the Red Sox 2013 World Series Run

We need some good vibes around here. Why not get it from some pleasant old memories, shall we? Enter in: the 2013 Boston Red Sox. I think we all know what happened that season. The Red Sox went from worst to first and completed an improbable World Series run. NESN showed game six of the 2013 ALCS and it got me strolling down memory lane. Everybody, come join me in remembering some of the better moments of that run.

Xander Bogaerts Showing Us He Was A Future Star

Game three of the 2013 World Series saw the Red Sox down 2-0. They needed a spark. Xander Bogaerts provided that spark with a leadoff triple in the top of the 5th inning. This helped the Red Sox score and eventually tie the game in the 6th inning. The Sox lost this game (still think that Middlebrooks obstruction call was b.s.), but they still won the series. This showed us that the shortstop was bound to be something special. Seven years later, it’s safe to say that Bogaerts has been as advertised. That World Series triple was only the beginning.

The Shane Victorino Grand Slam in Game 6 of the ALCS is Still Great

Although I disagree with Jordan about this being the series changing moment, I still love this moment. This moment was when we all knew the Sox were going to the World Series. I was fortunate enough to be with my mom at this game and we went nuts that night. Fenway was ROCKING after that grand slam and it was one of the most fun moments of my life as a sports fan, attending a live event. Victorino himself chimed in about the moment on Twitter.

The “Flyin’ Hawaiian” loved his time in Boston. I could watch this moment over and over again.

The Final Out to Finish the Story

The euphoria in the crowd says it all. From the last place finish, to the Boston Marathon bombing, to this final out; it was all spectacular. Koji was dominant that year and it only made sense that he recorded the final out via strikeout. Fenway was ecstatic and it remains as one of the best stories in Boston sports history!

In Conclusion

The 2013 World Series win for the Red Sox will always have a special place in my heart. It will never not put a smile on my face. That Red Sox team wasn’t favored to start the regular season to win it all. They weren’t the best on paper. But, they made it work and brought a third World Series title to Boston in 10 years. What a team that was and will always be!
