Red Sox Bring Back Tyler Thornburg
News broke today that the Red Sox have avoided arbitration with right handed reliever Tyler Thornburg.
Thornburg was acquired in the deal that sent Travis Shaw to the Brewers a few seasons ago.
During his first spring training, he blew out his elbow and needed Tommy John causing him to miss most of the last two seasons. He’s signed to a 1-year, 1.75 million dollar deal.
I said it two years ago and I’m standing by it…good!
I like this move a lot and think Thornburg if healthy, will play a huge role in our bullpen especially if we lose Kimbrel and/or Kelly to free agency.
He was a very effective pitcher with the Brewers and I think that can carry over to Boston.
Boston is going to need to save their money to an extent so that when Mookie, Xander, JBJ, Benitendi all need to get paid, they have the money to resign them.
Especially Mookie because you gotta give that man a blank check. I mean come on he is the best player in the game right now!
I’m praying Thornburg doesn’t make me eat my words but until this point he has done just that.
Please for the love of god allow him to stay healthy for just one season and you will all see just how much of a solid trade I still think it was!
