Red Sox and Mookie Betts Reach Deal Avoiding Arbitration
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE…sort of! I mentioned the other day how the Red Sox should extend Mookie Betts long term as soon as possible. Well, somebody must have been listening because the Red Sox and Mookie Betts agreed to a 20 million dollar deal to avoid arbitration.
This may not be the ground-breaking deal Red Sox fans were looking for, but it is a huge step forward! Adam Kaufman words it perfectly.
Both sides happy, those are the three key words here. If you recall, Mookie Betts and the Red Sox ownership had multiple discussions last off-season in arbitration, getting 10.5 million dollars. So, nearly doubling the amount of money he made last year is HUGE for Mookie and the Red Sox.
Not only is this big right now, but it could be huge down the line.
Mookie Betts is one of the best players in baseball. His A.L. MVP award in 2018, World Series title, and three time All-Star status speaks for itself. For right now, the Red Sox and Mookie Betts are happy. Hopefully, the Red Sox will be able to lock up Mookie Betts long term, so fans can see more of this for years to come.
I wouldn’t mind seeing this for about 8 to 10 more seasons! Would you?
