The Ravens Are Trying To Become the Best Team In the Division With These Moves
After the Cleveland Browns traded for Odell Beckham Jr. last night, everyone was ready to crown them division kings. Last years AFC North champions have something to say.
This morning, the Baltimore Ravens went out and signed both safety Earl Thomas and running back Mark Ingram. These are two great moves for Baltimore as they upgraded on both offense and defense. The Thomas move in particular is a home run, because they lost C.J. Mosley, ZaDarius Smith, and Eric Weddle in this free agency period.
Thomas instantly becomes the leader of a defense that was one of the best in the league last season, while Ingram gives them a reliable running back that second-year QB Lamar Jackson can lean on. I still doubt Ingram becomes a horse in that backfield with Gus Edwards and Kenneth Dixon around, but he vastly improves the unit after spending his whole career in New Orleans.
It appeared that the Ravens were making way for the Browns by letting their guys walk, but after these signings it’s clear Baltimore is not ready to get rid of the AFC North crown.
