Ranking the Red Sox remaining regular season schedule

The Boston Red Sox find themselves in the thick of things for the American League wild card. With the Blue Jays and Yankees breathing down their necks, this battle is going to be fun to watch down the stretch. So obviously, we as Red Sox fans need to see what their remaining regular season schedule entails. So with that being said, let’s rank the rest of the Red Sox regular season opponents from worst to best.

#4: Baltimore Orioles

This won’t be too long. The Orioles are a laughing stock in the MLB. The Red Sox literally just played them and swept them. This should be a series where at the absolute WORST…the Red Sox win two out of three in this series.

#3: Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals find themselves in a rebuild after only two seasons removed from winning the World Series. The days of Max Scherzer, Kyle Schwarber, and others are gone. Now it’s a situation where they are trying to get back to relevancy in the National League East. This is the final series of the season for the Red Sox and it should serve as a tune up for the American League playoffs. At worst, Red Sox win two out of three in this one as well.

#2: New York Mets

The Mets have been an up and down team in 2021. But it looks like they’re making a wild card push as well in the National League. This one is going to come down to the starting pitching. Eduardo Rodriguez will likely start one of those games. After that? Who knows. A split wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. But if you can take a short two game series at Fenway, that’s significant going into the last series that we’ll talk about next.

#1 New York Yankees

This is easily far and away the most significant series in the remainder of the Red Sox regular season. The rivalry is obviously there. Both teams are fighting it out with the Blue Jays for the two Wild Card spots in the American League. Hopefully, the pitching rotation will feature Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi in there. Then hopefully, Nick Pivetta can pitch well enough for the offense to pick him up in the other game of this series. The Red Sox NEED to take two out of three in this series. No exceptions!

In Conclusion

These last 11 games are going to be fun to watch. Personally? I think 8-3 in these last 11 will get the job done. If you tell me that you get the Red Sox at home in the Wild Card game with Chris Sale on the mound, I love their chances to advance to the ALDS. Then if they have to play the Rays? Well…that’s a different story.
