Ranking The Best DC Comic Characters
Justice League is coming out on Friday and with that, we have another movie list. Today I will be ranking the top DC comic-book characters of all-time. This list is based off of the history and impact on pop culture. I’m basing this list off because their haven’t been enough movies in the DCU to make up a top 10 list; like I did with the Marvel list I made 2 weeks ago. With that out of the way, here are the top DC characters of all-time.
Honorable Mentions- Two-Face, Ra’s Al Ghul, Lois Lane, Braniac, Bane, and Green Arrow
10 Commissioner Gordon- He’s not your typical hero but Commissioner James Gordon is the definition of a hero. As the commissioner of Gotham City, he and Batman help clean up the streets of crime. He’s also the father of Batgirl and is of the Dark Knight’s most important supporting characters.
9 Lex Luthor- As Superman’s arch enemy, Lex Luthor is one of the most iconic villains in comic-book history. What makes Luthor so scary is that he has the ability to go toe-to-toe with Superman and he doesn’t have any powers. But it helps when you are the smartest man in the world. Sometimes, it truly is “mind over muscle”.
8 Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing)- Along with Batman, he and Dick Grayson form one of the most famous dynamic duos in the history of pop culture. Known to many as the original Robin, Grayson has gone on an incredible journey. He’s gone from a kid full of wonder to the hardened badass hero known as Nightwing.

7 Hal Jordan (Green Lantern)- He’s a galactic space cop and he’s a one of the original core members of the Justice League. Originally a fighter pilot, Jordan was chosen by the power ring from the planet Oa to join the Green Lantern Corps. With the ring, Jordan becomes one of the most powerful characters in all of DC Comics.
6 Barry Allen (The Flash)- While he’s not the original Flash (Wally West), Barry Allen is by far the most iconic. After getting hit with a bolt of lightning, Allen gains superhuman speed and even has the ability to time travel. Ezra Miller will be bringing Barry Allen to the big screen for the first time in Justice League.
5 Selina Kyle (Catwoman)- Not only is Catwoman the sexiest characters in all of comics, she’s also one of the best. Selina Kyle is the definition of an anti-hero as she’s only goal in life is to get rich and look out for her own interests. She’s also had two incredible portrayals one the big screen; the first being Michelle Pfeiffer and the ladder being Anne Hathaway.
4 The Joker- There are countless iconic villains in comic book history, but no one can truly compete with The Joker. I could go on for hours about what makes the Joker so scary but I get down to the nitty. First off, no one knowns who he is (not even Batman) and there’s no rhyme or reason why he does what he does. He just does horrendous things because he can. He’s a true psychopath and one of the greatest villains in the history of pop culture.

3 Diana Prince (Wonder Woman)- As we move into the DC Trinity, we start with the Warrior. Wonder Woman is the princess of Themyscira and arguably the most iconic female character in all of pop culture. What makes Diana such an incredible character is her strength, both literally and figuratively. Not only does she poses God like strength and extremely skilled in sword fighting, Diana is a very forgiving and loving character. She sees the best in people and that’s what makes her great.
2 Kal-El/Clark Kent (Superman)- As the 1st superhero ever created it’s safe to say a few of you have heard of Superman. Not only is he one of the most famous superheroes, he’s arguably the most powerful. I also love the duality of Superman as he comes from two different worlds and two different ideals. You have Kal-El; the all power godlike alien vs Clark Kent; the regular American kid from Kansas. Not only is he trying to be a symbol of hope for the world, but he himself is trying to find his place in it. Deep stuff.
1 Bruce Wayne (Batman)- Was there really any doubt here? Not only is Batman the greatest DC character of all-time, he’s the greatest comic-book character ever created. Not only is he more feared man in the world, he’s the leader of the Justice League. Oh yea, the man doesn’t even have any powers! What I love so much about Batman is that he a normal dude who just wants to make the world a better place. Driven by the tragedy of the death of his parents, Batman will never stop and give up on Gotham City. He is vengeance, he is the night, he is the goddamn Batman.
